-BOND WITH YOUR DOG Playing with your dog and spending one-on-one time with him creates this all important bond. Dogs of all ages are able to create bonds. Try grooming him every day after you take a walk together. Bonding promotes good, reliable behavior and leadership.

-BE CONSISTENT It is no secret that consistency equals success. Behavior is behavior, whether you are talking about a good behavior or a bad one. If you consistently reward either, the behavior will become a habit.

-DON'T GET FRUSTRATED It is easy to get frustrated when you are trying new training without help. You want to see the results now, but sometimes it takes a few tries. Keep in mind that your dog already listens very well and it is up to you to tell him the things you want him to do in a language that he can understand.

-KEEP IT FAIR Dog training is NOT about punishment. It is about being a fair leader. Exerting control calmly and assertively is the key. If you find yourself getting upset or frustrated, stop training and come back to it when you are ready to try it again.
